ABOUT THE CLUB
Ellenbrook Rabbitohs Rugby League Football ClubBased in the suburb of Ellenbrook 40km northeast of Perth located within the City of Swan in Perth Western Australia. The area itself is one of Western Australia’s highest growth areas over the past few years with a devolving town centre and planned train line coming in 2024 it is proving be a great area for growth of rugby league in Western Australia, the area itself consists a mix of young and middle aged families with fifo life taking up a majority of family lives. The Ellenbrook Rabbitohs were established in late September 2014 from a small group of likeminded families that were involved in other rugby clubs within western Australia, They wanted to bring the game of Rugby League closer to home and to get more families within the local area involved in the club and its culture. The clubs original home ground was located at Woodlake oval in Ellenbrook with no facilities apart from a toilet block, the committee relied on gazebos and fold out tables and any spare equipment they could get their hands on to provide for their players, in 2015 the city of swan installed a set of change rooms which somewhat improved the landscape of the club.
In the summer of 2014, the club started with Touch Football it was a way of getting the local community involved with the club and getting our brand out to the wider community.
In the winter of 2014, the Ellenbrook Rabbitohs entered the NRLWA competition fielding 16 junior teams from Under 6 to Under 16 including a Girls 12- 16-year-old League Tag team. Building on the strong start, the club worked on building numbers throughout the age groups and in 2016 a men’s team was entered into the Val Murphy competition, in the same season the club had taken home its first championship with the junior girls’ league tag taking the win. The year after another men’s team entered into the Reserve grade competition, then in 2018 a women’s team was also entered into the competition and by the end of that season the club had its first senior championship.
Over the years the club has worked on building numbers growing every year and 2018 the club was given the keys to the current grounds at Charlottes Vineyard which came with a small hall, canteen, change rooms and a store room and two full sized playing fields, this was a huge step up for the club. Which meant the club was able to increase its revenue to provide for its members.
The club has come a long way from its humble beginnings, with now a functioning Bar and Canteen and plenty of fundraising and government grants the club has been able to grow into what it is today, and with plans for the future of a bigger clubroom and more change rooms it will go from strength to strength.
The Ellenbrook Rabbitohs from the start have always been about the children and their development on and off the field, turning young boys and girls in to strong and capable men and women within our local community, the clubs moto “ONE CLUB ONE FAMILY” has been installed in all our players young and old.
